walterg74
I always wait for a sale on drives. Buy when I don't need to so I get them cheaper. Since my Media server is used every night to record my wife's an my TV shows if i don't have a spare my wife will miss the Voice etc. Oh no! That would be terrible! Well in my case I cannot even do that. Since I am not from the US I have to buy my stuff whenever I or someone I know travels. Right now my brother is there, so I have to buy the best option currently available, and it seems it's either 2 of: the Seagate or WD green 3TB or that 5TB Toshiba one that was pointed out... ohlwiler
This site is my go-to when hunting for good deals. It tracks the current prices at several sites. http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/internal-hard-drive/#S=3000000,8000000&sort=a7&page=1 That being said, I'm only buying Seagate 8TB SRM drives now (although I've got my eyes peeled for a good deal on an 8TB PMR drive for parity).
