SAS Card not detected after bios update

Featured Replies

Hi all, not sure if this is specifically an unraid problem or a hardware issue.

I've just updated the bios on my asrock m/b (see sig for hardware details) and now my IBM BR10i card does not appear to be being detected in unraid (I've got lots of missing devices which match to the drives on the sas card).

I've also noticed that the card does not appear to POST on bootup although I've read that can happen if there isn't enough option rom space in the bios?

The light is showing on the BR10i so its "active".

Although I suspect this must be a bios issue - can anyone have a look at my syslog and see if there is anything obvious in there?

syslog.txt

Do a "Cross-Check" - flash the old BIOS back and see, if the Card is detected.

After a BIOS-Flash its important to reset the BIOS to default Values - have you done this?

Then do all settings which you need and after a reboot, check the BIOS-settings again.

Because the old BIOS detects the BR10i, it may not be a problem with the rom space.

OK, I worked out that the issue seems to be with the particular PCIE port the card was in.  After moving it to the third PCIE slot, the card now works!

Something in the BIOS update must have changed the way the 2nd PCIE slot works... :o
