unnecessary data rebuild...why ?

i was trying to use a spare hdd to add as an unassigned disk so i could dump some films to it, i inadvertently unplug one of my drives and it reported as missing, i plugged it straight back in correctly and it showed up as a new device and when i started the array its now doing a data rebuild..why is this ?...the data was valid before it got unplugged, also during the data rebuild would this stop the dockers from working ? they are running but i have no access to them. seems that anytime this gets touched i get a whole heap of headaches.

Its because it was reported as missing.  Unraid has no idea if that drive's contents got modified while it was missing (or if a not her write happened to a file on that drive) hence the rebuild.  This is the proper way to guarantee that the contents on that drive are correct.

I'm a big fan of hot swap cases so that inadvertent pulling out of cables cannot happen

ok..thts good to know. i am a fan of hotswap bays, i actually have one in the server but for some reason i have one of my array disks in it..think i just done that to get use out of it..might put it internal and keep the hotswap empty
