Won't Boot "Attempted DOS system call"

Featured Replies

I properly powered down my unRAID box today.

After turning power back on, I noticed I could not access my box either via browser or putty.  I connected a monitor and see the persistent message, "Menu c32: attempted DOS system call"

Anyone know what that means - and what I should do.  This is a Limetech factory box with unRAID 4.4, I believe.

Sincere thanks,

Bill

Answering my own question:

This was a result of USB key problem / corruption / failure.  Thankfully, I was able to get a copy of my config folder off the bad key and put it on my backup key.  Server works as expected again.

Lesson learned - always make a backup of my current USB key.  ;)

I do an rsync of /boot to one of the disks in the array. That way I can restore any information needed later and/or even boot from a grub4dos floppy in an emergency.
