Majority of files/folder in a user share not visible via SMB

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I've just upgraded to v6, and so far things are mostly in order.  One somewhat minor issue I am seeing is that when I browse one of my user shares from my mac via SMB, I am only seeing a fraction of the files that I see via command line, or even via Plex.  I've checked my smb settings, user share settings, and generally poked around and the culprit isn't obvious to me.  I've done the repair permissions after I installed, and have confirmed that all files are nobody:users and have the same permissions.  Browsing the individual disks seems to show the files, but not when I view the user share.

Any ideas?  Many thanks!!

What about if you browse from a different machine?

Are all disks included in Global Share Settings?

When the array is started, the array disks are mounted, their file systems started, and then the User Shares system started, and the virtual file systems of the Shares built from the disk file systems, according to the configuration.  If for some reason a disk has not finished mounting yet, then its file system may not be ready for inclusion in the User Share when it's built.  Stopping the array and restarting it will rebuild the User Shares anew.

You might want to check the syslog for errors mounting the drive with those files.  You may also want to run Check Disk File systems on the drive.
