[SOLVED] Replacing with Larger Disk.... still waiting

Featured Replies

Yesterday precleared new 8TB Seagate. Powered down this morning (8AM) to replace EARS 2TB with the new 8TB. Restarted UR, array stopped "missing dosk", Assigned new 8TB and started array to begin data rebuild. Drive light is full on for 8TB ONLY. Been like that for 2 hours (10:15 now). UR webGui won't load (spinning waiting for response). Flash drive is visible on network but log ends at that last shut down so no clue what its up to.

I know it takes a while for the new disk to initialize but I don't think I have seen one take this long. Any ideas? Let it go for... how long?

<face palm> I knew it. I just knew that as soon as I posted it would let loose and be on its way. Sure enough 10:26 it woke up and data rebuild started. 2.5 hours!!

It look like perhaps the long initialization wait was indicative of problems. The 8TB failed halfway through the data rebuild. Precleared once with no errors. RMA back to newegg.

As luck would have it, the fail was far enough in that UR won't take a drive smaller than 8TB (it replaced a 2TB). <sigh> (sitting on a empty 6 TB)
