RichardU
My System: ASRock H97M Pro4 / i5-4590 / CRUCIAL 16GB 8X2 D3 1600 DIMM C9 Unraid: 6.0.1 VMs: 2 Win 10 vms / No Dockers running I have Unraid and both Win10 VMs present on my network. Then, all of a sudden, they can no longer be contacted. I can't get to the web GUI, but I did get diagnostics from the terminal which are attached. This has happened every few days since I upgraded to v6. I thought it might be my router, so I replaced the router, but the problem has resurfaced with the new router. Everything works again after rebooting. Ideas? Thanks, Richard ubernet-diagnostics-20150831-1606.zip Link to comment
RobJ
Your syslog doesn't actually show anything seriously wrong. There's some nuisance items, like the 'invalid response packets' messages, which will be suppressed once you upgrade to v6.1. I would strongly recommend you change the network settings to use a static IP, not DHCP, as your router has a short IP lease, and you are using bridging. It looks like each time the IP is renewed, the bridge is broken down, then rebuilt, which seems a crazy amount of extra work, and might be causing problems. The bridge shows over 235000 dropped packets, not sure how significant that is, but it certainly could be better. To change to a static IP, just note the current settings, turn off DHCP (can't remember how it's worded), and put in the settings you noted. The network did go down a couple of times, but only for a second, no real problem. And while you say the network is down now, the syslog shows it to be working, and receiving packets, so there may be some other reason why you can't reach the webGui. I'm tired now, sorry, and that's all I have at the moment. Link to comment
RichardU
Thank you so much. I have set manual IP addresses in the unraid machine, as well as both VMs. I removed the DHCP reservations for those machines from my router. I also lengthened the lease time from one day to seven days (max for Asus router). Hopefully that's all I need. Thanks again. Your syslog doesn't actually show anything seriously wrong. ... It might be worth leaving the reservations in place to make sure that the router does not try and assign the IP address to any other device. Link to comment
RichardU
I wondered about that. I was wondering if the router would object, but I'll put them back in. Thanks.
