September 23, 201510 yr Author Okay guys, so the new Asmedia card arrived by the mail today so i went ahead and installed it immediately. The bad: i can't seem to get this card to work either. Must be something i do or do not do, i'm really not sure. The good - and this was one of those facepalm moments - it never occurred to me that i could just swap drives around to see and check wether the SATA port is defective or the drive itself... Sure enough, went i swapped a "valid" drive in the "defective" SATA port, it was detected without any problems, and the supposedly "valid" drive was not detected when plugged into a valid port (never went further than the BIOS though). So, this means that every SATA ports on my mobo are working and that i'm good for a new hard drive. Now, if i could just get this PCIe to SATA card working, i could upgrade my parity drive with a small salvaged SATA. Any idea on that?

Try a different slot, doesn't have to be the same size slot.
