Windows cannot access //TOWER

Featured Replies

started getting this error out of nowhere when i try to access my unraid server though my windows PC. Not sure if it has something to do with upgrading form windows 7 to 10.

Is there something basic I've done and haven't realised?

Are you trying to do this from File Explorer or are you trying to get to the webGUI?

I have this error from time to time since upgrading to Windows 10, what I do is refersh the network mapping a few times [(F5) or the cricle arrow button next to the navigation bar] and that usually resolves the issue. It doesn't alwasy take on the first time. I've also noticed this is more likely after updates are installed automatically.

Not exactly sure what is causing this issue, and I'm not going to speculate since I'm really unsure.

Verify that your Windows 10 workgroup (Right Mouse Start->System) is the same as unRAID's workgroup and that unRAID is set to be the local master in the SMB settings.

Yeah the workgroup was fine. I don't know sometimes it randomly works and sometimes it doesn't. I found if i go into the files on another pc then try my main one it will work. Also I dragged "Network" shortcut to desktop and it works every time. weird.

Is your unRAID set as the local master and do you keep it running all the time?  Windows naming broadcast relies on one machine being a master, and if the master is not on all the time, then the other machines will fight it out to be the master.  That may explains why it works some of the time.

If you don't keep you unRAID on all the time, then you may look into running a local DNS.

Yeah it runs all the time

I may have just experienced this too for the first time on my Windows 10 laptop.  Accessing the shares or the webgui failed and then it started working a minute or two afterward.
