boxtor
I'm creating a second unRAID server, but I intend to use the drives in the old server. This will be using a new cache drive and USB stick (I bought the cheap 2nd license). To use the existing drives with existing data on the new server, all I would need to do is create the initial config where the parity drive is mapped to the existing parity drive and all the data drives are included? Note: I'm backing up the data before moving to the new server. Link to comment
garycase
Yes, that's all you need to do. Just be CERTAIN that you assign the correct drive as parity. Link to comment
BRiT
If you dont recall which drive is parity, I suggest not assigning the parity drive at all. The data disks will all show as being valid disks with valid filesystems. However if you accidentally assign a data drive as parity you will clober data. Only once you're certain all your data drives are assigned should you then add the parity drive. Link to comment
mr-hexen
You can assign all disks to data slots, the one that reports no file system or unformatted will be the prior parity drive. Link to comment
boxtor
Thanks for the help. The transition went relatively smooth. Link to comment
