Hey All,

just bought 2 pro versions and trying to setup a server for someone thats not too tech savy. I'm trying to create a user account for them to use other than root etc.

 

On new memory cards I setup everything as per instructions and also installed bubba raid, booted and setup the servers. All is well/fine except I imported 2 disks from another unraid setup (old mem stick, bought new ones to install pro version on). Server and data all look fine/boot fine and when I go under "Users" and change the root password that goes well also. When I try to add a new user I can see the terminal and it says that the UID is not unique; specifically that "uid 1000 is not unique" and then chpasswd says the user is unknown and changes ignored.  Of course no user is then created under the management GUI.

 

I've tried disabling the feature, and rebooting between each step, after disabling, after enabling etc but when trying to create a user I still get the same message. I've also tried different user names, including single letters etc just to see if I can figure out what is causing this but no go.

Is there anything that you know of that could cause a user to not be created? I thought I remember reading something about parity maybe causing it but I don't remember and couldn't find the thread immediately.

 

Thanks for any tips, already been over the manual/wiki/faq and nothing addressed this so I'm a bit lost. Search didn't find specific info for me either so I apologize if this has been discussed already.

Tried 4.5 beta 6, still no users, still says the UID is not unique, both keys react the same (sony micro vault).

 

Ok, it looks like UID 1000 and 1001 are both not unique.

1000 is my real name/login and 1001 is me messing around with another user (user "a" ) just to see if it was working. User "z" was created and deleted fine. Any way of deleting UID 1000/1001 or the previous login names that didnt work so I can use my login name?

Nevermind I figured out it was bubba raid causing it.
