Midnight Commander not working after upgrade to 6.1.1 (SOLVED)

Featured Replies

I use Midnight Commander a lot and typically from my Mac laptop using the Terminal program to login to the server.

Prior to the upgrade it worked fine. But now the left/right/up/down navigation keys no longer work. Additionally I can't use the track pad to scroll anymore. Basically it is unusable.

I can confirm that Putty on my Win10 VM works just as it always did so it seems to be an OSX related issue.

It's working fine here, no Mac's here, but there's another report out there somewhere of the same, so you aren't the only one.  No idea what the problem is.

LT removed a lot of terminal info databases. Now, only xterm/linux/ansi terminals are available. Of you want more terminals, you have to install the ncurses package instead.

I know this because I had a lot of work to fix the Preclear plugin, because tmux originally uses "screen" terminal type.

Well that sucks. I would have thought access to unRaid via terminal on OSX was a must have. Midnight Commander is still so useful.

I really hate the idea of having to add addittional packages and run the risk of things not playing well after updates (kinda like this).

Could you suggest the correct ncurses package for unRaid 6.1.1 and possibly point me in the direction of the best way to install this to get Midnight Commander working for OSX again. Thanks

awesome! Thankyou. I will try that and then report back.

I would also notify Tom about this, as I'm sure he had no intention of breaking anything here.  He will probably want to add back those terminals needed, once notified of exactly which ones are needed.

For the Preclear Plugin it's screen, for MC i think it's xterm-256color .

Yes, of course: http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackware64-14.1/slackware64/l/ncurses-5.9-x86_64-2.txz

Put it into the /boot/extra and reboot your server.

Followed your instructions and upon reboot MC works great from OSX. Thanks again.

Yes should be fixed in 6.1.2, lemme know...

Updated to 6.1.2 after removing ncurses package from /boot/extra. On reboot MC working perfectly from OSX. Thankyou
