August 28, 200916 yr Is this just a Disk Failure... I browsed my Syslog and didn't see the error there, but maybe missed it (attached here).. I also seemed to have lost the ability to connect to the UNRaid box via the DNS name, have to get there via IP only and there has been no change to my Router/AP network setup or Workgroup setup on my home network... Something completely different?

Something completely different? What disk do you see as "Red" ?? I don't see any evidence of it in the syslog? Your router is handing out DHCP leases good for 2 minutes? I'd reboot your router. A screen-shot of the unRAID interface showing the error might be a good thing to post...

Good, I didn't see in the Sylog either, so at least I didn't miss something big... here are the screenshots showing the "Red" Disk.
August 28, 200916 yr Both the standard unRAID interface and the unMENU interface agree... disk2 is disabled. I'm really surprised it is not in the syslog. In any case, first step is to see if the disk is responsive to a "smartctl" command. since you have unMENU installed, you can go to the disk management page, select disk2 in the drop-down list, and request a "Smart Status" report. (scroll down on the page to see the output.) Depending on the result, you will need to un-assign, "Start" the array, "Stop" the array, then re-assign the disk to get it to be recognized once more. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE THE RESTORE BUTTON. It does not restore data, but sets an initial configuration without the failed drive and starts calculating parity without it. If you press it you will lose the data on disk2 if it indeed has really failed. When you re-Start the array after re-assigning the drive it will start the process of re-constructing the contents based on parity and the other data drives. Let it complete the process. Joe L.

August 28, 200916 yr Both the standard unRAID interface and the unMENU interface agree... disk2 is disabled. Istn't that a known problem of having more than 16 disks in the array (16+ parity = 17)?
August 29, 200916 yr Author FYI, the DNS issue I was experiencing was due to a VPN connection into my employer who happens to have a DNS Entry for "Media", which is what my UNRain box is called... disconnected the VPN/SSL connection and the DNS issues go away...go figure. Disk 2 Rebuild... Estimated finish: 209.7 minutes
