Want to try unRAID baremetal but currently running off VMDK image not USB

Featured Replies

I want to try running unRAID baremetal without ESXi - but I am loading off of a VMDK file and not the USB. If I run directly from USB, will everything be the same as running off of the VMDK? I don't want to lose my settings/shares/etc. Is it really as simple as changing the boot target in BIOS?

Thanks!

Dave

if your Flash contains the same version of unRAID as VMDK, then you should just change boot order in bios and unRAID will boot just fine with all settings preserved. after, you can change it back to esxi if needed..
