Help: unraid shfs/user: shfs_fallocate: fallocate: (95) Operation not supported

Featured Replies

As the title suggests, I have been seeing a lot of "unraid shfs/user: shfs_fallocate: fallocate: (95) Operation not supported" in my syslog of late. I saw https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=40793.0, so I can answer the original question - it doesn't seem like anything odd is going on. The dashboard is reporting no errors with any of my drives.

Specs on my setup:

Motherboard: MSI - H81I

CPU: i5-4440S

Memory: 16GB DDR3

Cache drive: 256gb SSD (btrfs)

Parity drive: HGST 3TB 7200 rpm (reiserfs)

Data: 2x 3TB WD RED (reiserfs)

Installed plugins include:

OpenVPN Client

Community Applcations

Dockers:

gfjardmin's Transmission

VM:

Ubuntu 15.04 -  all 4 cores, 2gb RAM to start, balloon to 6gb (I think), br0

Syslog attached - around 12 Sept 20:30 I started downloading a few torrents, so I am thinking there is a correlation, but I don't know enough to connect the dots past that. I ran the syslog at 20:47, so it looks like the errors have stopped/paused (or at least haven't occurred in five or so minutes). Thanks for the help!

Are you trying to do something like a torrent download to a User share?  There are some operations that do not work with user shares (e.g. creating symbolic links) and for applications that require this capability you need to use disk level shares.

Thats it! Thank you itimpi! Doesn't solve my broader instability problems but thats one more thing ruled out! Thank you :)
