September 13, 201510 yr Do you think it would be wise to wait for a LGA1151 upgrade in let's say a months time for OMV or just go for a proven 1150 setup? I now have a fairly old setup and want to upgrade. Just file sharing and CrashPlan. Thinking about a low power 35W i3. Thanks, Ralph
September 13, 201510 yr I'd go with an 1150 Haswell system -- I can't think of any advantage of Socket 1151 with the lower end processors (i3's, i5's, etc.).
October 15, 201510 yr I can... After looking at the ARK site for Intel it looks like all the Skylake CPUs support VT-d out of the box. Even the LOW LOW end chips.
October 15, 201510 yr True ... if you're planning to buy a low-end CPU but still want vt-d. But if you're planning to run VMs, you probably shouldn't be looking at the low-end ... and virtually any of the higher-end Haswell's support vt-d, so that "advantage" is only true for certain sets of CPU's => NOT for the Skylake series in general.
