[Solved] Cannot install virtio drivers via INF or device manager

Featured Replies

Following wiki, converting a physical machine to virtual. I am at the point where I need to right-click in the various folders (Balloon, netkvm, etc) and right click in the INF to install. I get the following:

"The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation".

This is Windows 7 x64 and get the same message from all of the them, trying both 32 and 64 bit.

Device manager, right click root device, add legacy hardware, next, install manually (advanced), next, have disk, browse, select inf, install.

It will give an error 10 or something about not installing, but it should work after the image is migrated.

Awesome, thanks, will give that a try!

That did work, thanks very much!

It's not the cleanest method, but it does get the drivers and settings in there and ready for the migration. At least you don't have to deal with BSOD's while editing xml's. (Love the tech word salad)
