What is the hold-up with OE v6 final?

Featured Replies

Kodi v15 was released nearly 2 months ago.  I know that OE is usually takes a bit longer but this seems out of the ordinary.  I want to update all of my VMs but had too many issues with the betas so I put it on hold until the final is released.

Anyone have any insight?

John

No insight, but we are hopeful that we will see v6 final in the next 30 days or so.  I think the issue was that Kodi 15.0 had a lot of bugs and things broke with certain plugins. The latest OE betas are actually based on Kodi 15.1, so I think they are waiting for the 15.X series to show some more stability before going final.

I am still having the same issue with 5.95.5 that I have had with previous betas.  Skipping forward and backward is not fluent...at least not even close to what it is in 5.0.8.  If I skip forward, it will pause for a full second, I hear audio, and the the video needs to catch up.

Anyone else?

I believe the remote issue is now fixed.

My assumption is that they are waiting for 15.2 final (it has been on release candidates for weeks)

Also, one of the main openelec team members apparently got a new job and doesn't have too much time to work on it (hearsay)

I'm still on the last stable on my main htpc (OE5). I'm not really tempted to upgrade as none of the new features really interested me much. I'll upgrade once the 6 stable hits (I do have 15.1 running on a couple of fire tv's, though, and I don't notice any difference between that and OE5 to be honest)
