I'm new to unraid. Is there a way to create qed disks via the kvm gui? Maybe edit the xml?

 

My googling hints that they are significantly faster than qcow2. qcow3 is supposed to be inline with QED but we're not there yet.

 

qemu-img supports qcow2 and qed so I could convert them after creation but I'd rather start off with the format I want in the first place.

    I found that I can format them with qemu-img and use them. It would be an interesting test to see which is better...qcow2 vs qed for performance.
