Hi Guys,

I'm intending to use APC SMART-UPS SC 420VA 230V [sC420I] in a HP N54L micro server, The server does not have a native serial port. I understand that a lot of people use a usb to serial adapter in these cases however the vendor advised that this UPS doesn't support a usb to serial cable.  I don't entirely trust that response and wanted to know the following if anyone is familiar with this UPS.

 

1. Have you used a usb to serial adapter with the model and successfully configured the device via Unraid 6.x and the native plugin?

2.  If so what adapter did you use and does it matter from an Unraid hardware support perspective?

3. if the above is not an option has anyone used a pcie x1 serial card in unraid which I could hook up the UPS to that works?
