4.5 - Beta 6 - Becomes unresponsive to Windows Continuously

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Moved house 3 weeks ago and prior to the move my unraid server was rock solid (4.4.2) for the past 6 months.  Upon arriving at the new place, my flash went missing from the server so in order to get it up and running again, I bought a new pro licence (and took Joe's advice and jumped ointo 4.5 beta 6) as I was already on 6 drives.  When I got the server up, one of the 1.5TB was showing major errors (6K+), so i changed the drive out and rebuilt from parity.  all good so far.

However ever since the move the server has been disappearing from windows on a regular basis - to the point where windows doesn't recognise its there from a share perspective asnd can't navigate to the //tower gui.  However if I try to access by disk number i can access all the data perfectly. On top of this it seems that the server wants to recheck parity continually but this may be due to the forced shutdowns I've had to do to restore the shares (is there a kind linux command i can do from the prompt to unmount the drives prior to shutdown?).  Through this all the server appears to be ok when i hook it up to a keyboard.

I have been using Win 7 64 bit for the past 3 months, and I thought it might be a W7 issue with the explorer shell, but a vista machine reacts identically.

I've attached the syslog which i hope someone can help diagnose the issue as I'm at my wits end.  Everytime the damn thing wants to calculate parity it takes 8 hours and then even if parity is ok the server becomes unresponsive to windows shortly after.

Any advice appreciated, PK
