XFS Drive Failures

Featured Replies

Hi all..

I have a verry serious issue here, had a power-spike last night from my power supply  and my parity  disk and 1 of the data drives have died in my unraid box :'( :'( :'( :'(...

all drives formatted with the XFS file system,  #How can i read the data off the drives ?.....

i remember doing the same with reiserfs just plugging in and copying data .. can i do the same with XFS?

cheers

There are so many degrees of dying, hard to know what is meant by the term.  Do you mean they aren't spinning, or they can't be seen by the BIOS, or they can't be seen by unRAID, or they are red balled, or have bad sectors, or file system corruption ...

Can you obtain SMART reports for them?  If not, how about after a reboot?  (make sure you grab the diagnostics zip before rebooting!)

What does a SMART short test say?  Or long one?  Have you tried the XFS check tool on the data drive?  (See Check Disk File systems)
