September 2, 200916 yr In connection with my previous post regarding transferring files, a parity check started to run, which obviously affects transfer rates etc....Is it safe to cancel the parity check while I transfer files, and then run it once the transfer is complete? FYI - I have never run parity since this is a new setup. Merely precleared all drives and started the array. I am just now moving over files to the array. Just wanted to be sure it is all right to cancel a party check to increase transfer speed. THank you so much.
September 2, 200916 yr Probably safe, but probably will not speed things up much either as long as the parity disk is still part of the config. Joe L.
September 3, 200916 yr Canceling a parity check is absolutely safe. I've had parity check stutter HD playback - can't comment on effect on transfer speed.
