September 28, 201510 yr I just started doing a parity check on my array, the file system for my cache drive says XFS, I know it should be BTRFS, do I have to change it manually?
September 28, 201510 yr There's nothing wrong with using XFS as the file system for your cache drive, though there are some advantages to using BTRFS. Personally I'm sticking with XFS until the chatter about occasional BTRFS stability issues dies down. You can change the file system manually, but you'll have to stop the array to do so. Don't forget to backup the data on your cache drive first.
September 28, 201510 yr Author Ok thanks. Why would I need to backup the data on my cache drive, is it used when copying new data to the array?
September 28, 201510 yr Ok thanks. Why would I need to backup the data on my cache drive, is it used when copying new data to the array? If you change the file system type, then unRAID will want to format the drive thus wiping any data it already contains.
