CPU usage with V6 vs V5

Featured Replies

So does v6 use more CPU power than v5..

I upgraded from v5.0.4 today to v6.1.3 and all went well.

This is for my Media Server.. #1 listed below.

Reading through the forums I noticed that most users seem to read more streams than write.

My situation is that I record more streams than read, typically recording 4 1080p OTA at a time and many times also watching 1 stream then delete.

So I just did a test of the usage above.

With v6 I could see the CPU usage and while most of the time it would stay around 39% it would often jump to 98%.

I don't know if it's just because I could see the usage or if it's because v6 in fact uses more CPU.

Is there a way with Telnet to see CPU usage using v5?

This system is due for an update soon or I may should just exchange my #2 - Backup Server with this one.

I'm not sure if V5 has this but you could try "htop" and see if that gives you enough info to test.

Command not found!

You can also install htop via unMenu - it gives you more information than top.

Well I think "top" should work.

Still no go.

Same result, almost.

Got top to work by  changing terminal prefs (OSX) to emulate xterm.

Also got htop to work.
