September 3, 200916 yr Hello I was looking for a cheap & efficient & expandable way to add some redundancy to my "Storage PC". ATM i am using an old Sempron 2600 with 2 GB Ram Windows 2003 Server and 1+9HDD 40(OS) + 250 300 300 320 320 500 500 500 1000 all formated via NTFS. Unraid seems to be perfect for my needs. However i cant find the answer to : Is Unraid fully compatible with NTFS ? Can i buy Unraid, get a 1500GB Drive, and setup the parity "just like that ?" this post http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Copy_files_from_a_NTFS_drive makes me think no... If no, while this question is more for the "request" part : do you plan to make a "Windows Version" for Unraid ? Kinda like http://www.openegg.org/FlexRAID.curi Beeing able to have an HTPC with windows & unraid would really own.
September 3, 200916 yr You are correct in that currently unRAID needs to format the drives, thereby erasing all data on them. If you want to set up an unRAID server you will have to do some moving around of data. You will not be able to just "plug" you NTFS formatted drives in and make it work.
