Comment area for each drive

Featured Replies

It would be nice to have a comment area for each drive defned in the array so that you could specify what the drive is used for (data, music, pictures, movies, etc)

That way on the main page it is obvious which drive has what on it.

Please consider this. Thx

Check out unMENU and MyMain add-on.  It has exactly the spot you are describing if you do not want to wait for it to be added to unRAID stock distribution.  (and it will likely be a Loooooooooonnnnnnnng wait, as other items are probably higher in priority.).

I see the Usage Notes but how do I edit it?

You can use the Config View/Edit page in unMENU.  It can edit the myMain.conf and myMain_local.conf files.  (You probably will want to make your changes in the myMain_local.conf file)

I am sorry but I do not see the Config View/Edit option anywhere in unmenu.

I must be blind

You probably did not install all the add-ons then.

Where did you download unMENU from?  The Config View/Edit option has been there a while.

In any case, you can get it here where it was originally described.

I tried editing myMail_local.conf last night.  I added two lines to my myMain_local.conf file as a test.

SetDriveValue(KRVA03ZAG3V5LD, usage,"Movies")

SetDriveValue(5QH00QPN, usage, "Mp3")

The first field is the serial number of the disk.  This way, even if the disk is moved to a different port, the comment will still follow.

Then, the MyMain plug-in of unMENU showed those two values in the "Usage Notes" column. (see the attached image)

Edit: [inserting foot in mouth]the Config View/Edit plugin was not part of the .zip files I have out there... I guess it was created afterwards and never added to the .zip...  Sorry...  you can get it from the link above... you were not blind... [/removing foot from mouth ... slowly]
