UPS Shutdown, Auto Restart?

Featured Replies

Looking for a method to have my system auto-reboot when power returns after a UPS shuts off my system. I could always just manually issue a WOL packet(hoping that works on my mobo, so far untested), however I am looking for an automated solution.

Most (but not all) UPS units will automatically turn back on after a power outage IF they have been programmatically shut down.

IF your unit works like this, it's easy to do what you want => set APCUPSD to turn off the UPS when it shuts down the computer [the UPS has a built-in delay to allow the shutdown to finish before killing power];  and go into your PC's BIOS and set the power options to "Always On" -- you should have a choice of "last state", "Off", or "On".    With these settings, the PC will automatically boot when power is applied;  and the UPS will turn on and apply power when the A/C is restored after an outage.

Ahh I see those options, had not considered pairing with the computers "Always On" Setting. Only thing I can see is, my current set up I have to turn the server off at 20% remaining battery capacity, and keep my other plugged in gadgets going. Shutting off the UPS would kill those gadgets. I can swap them to another UPS and have that set to be always on.

Thanks for the quick advice!
