Raid Array device, does order matter?

Featured Replies

So I currently have a parity device setup with 4 drives in array. I am looking to add another hard drive to the array. My question comes as more of a need for continuity. My parity disk is 5tb. I like to have my largest disks in slot 1 which is 5tb and slot 2 and 3 are 4tb. I want to add an additional 5tb drive ideally in the disk 2 slot and move the 4tb drives down to 3 and 4. Will changing the order of my devices to do this while I have the raid array offline cause any issues? Or do I have to add my additional new disk to the last open slot?

Like to get a clear answer before I might do something to ruin my array. Thanks in advance for the help!
