Stuck at loading bzroot

Featured Replies

My server has been humming along for a long time without any incident, but after a reboot a few days ago, it won't come back online.    I'm stuck at loading bzroot.  It never progresses any further.      I was running 4.0 so I tried upgrading to the newest stable version but nothing changed.      Any suggestions as to where to start?

Wow.  Just noticed that the syslog is from 2007.  What the???

Back to the year 2007 ?

That could say that the MB reset itself.

So it could be a hardware issue

I had been getting this error intermittently over the past few weeks, and finally figured it out (last night after a few hours).

I am running a slightly older motherboard, and the southbridge chipset was getting too warm (it controls the USB link?) and resulted in the loading bzroot freeze.

I put a fan on and within minutes it was booting again like a charmer.

The other times i had this error, i also found that running a memtest (memcheck?), not sure what version it was added from a very hazy memory it was around v4.2?, but running this seems to also clear out any memory bugs you may have and allowed me to load.

Just a couple things i did to fix you may want to consider, had been driving me crazy for a while.

As a result ill be getting a newer M/B soon with a cooler chipset.

Regards
