How to Flash LSI Firmware to IT mode

Per LIS tech support if you have a UEFI BIOS your have to flash it via UEFI Shell and use instructions on their site.  If you have a traditional BIOS you have to use DOS.  This is not spelled out in their instructions on their website.  My motherboard did not come with a UEFI Shell and I could not find one that worked so I had to find an older computer with a traditional BIOS and use a DOS bootable USB drive.  If you have problems LSI has great customer phone support and will walk you through the process over the phone, they did for me.

I have attached the instructions that LSI tech support sent me.

Hi Guys,

I have just bought one of these motherboards Supermicro X10SL7-F and it is just going in my case :-)

Quick question - is there an idiots guide on how to flash the LSI onboard firmware to IT mode.

Thanks in advance :-)

Stuart

As it is a Supermicro board it might be better to take the files from their website and read the readme file of it. Or contact their support department. Als take note of the SAS number of the controller. It might be needed during the flash process.

So I thought I would explain here how I did it in case anyone is interested.

1 - I downloaded the files from the Supermicro website.

2 - I extracted the UEFI folder onto my unRAID USB drive

3 - Booted into the BIOS

4 - Chose to boot into EUFI mode

5 - Entered following commands

fs0:

cd UEFI

SMC2308T.NSH
