Stripe Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I just bought a new disk and decided to change the file system on my disks into xfs. I had some trouble during preclear process: I've started it twice, each time after pre-read, when disk started to be zeroed (about 1% done) the system hanged - I couldn't access to GUI nor ssh into the server. The first time I've used a preclear plugin, the second time I've started the preclear script from the command line. Same result. So, I've attached monitor and ran a memtest (recently I've added 2 memory modules), which found no errors. I've started the preclear script for the third time, this time directly from the console (using -n switch) and it went smoothly. So, I've reattached my server to the network and started copying files from my first disk to the new one, following the procedure posted by bjp999 here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=37490.0. Everything was working as expected, so I left the system running over the night. Today in the morning I've found that the copying stopped after 1,5TB from 2TB and I can't access the GUI. I can ssh into the server and resume the screen session, so I can see that copying process is stuck. What should I do now?
Stripe Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 I'm attaching syslog, maybe that will help in diagnosing my problem... syslog.zip
Stripe Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 Yes I'm using the S3 Sleep, but it's set to go into the sleep mode after 15 min of array inactivity. I've started the copy process about 6 pm and the server stopped at about 2AM, not finishing the copy process. And as I mentioned I couldn't access the gui, so I had to reboot....
BobPhoenix Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Just to be on the safe side I would disable Sleep while you are converting to XFS and then re-enable it when you are done.
