Per user quota?

Featured Replies

Coming from another nas solution I was wondering if it is possible to set up PER user quota?

Example:

Share: Time Machine Backup

User A can write up to 500GB

User B can write up to 250GB

User C can write up to 500GB

All users are connecting to same share but have set limits.

Currently I see you can set limit per share which is not ideal, I would like to have one share dedicated to TM backups.

Is there a functional reason why it can't be more then one share?

I guess in the end it probably won't make a huge difference.

But I guess the reasons are as follows:

  • I am coming from DSM and that's how you set it up.
  • It's cleaner in UI as well as on the network I have one Time Machine showing up not 5 (I have 5 devices backing up)
  • This king of functionality would allow multiple users use single share but won't be taking up each others' space. ex. Allow my family member write to Downloads folder, but not fill it up with 5TB of linux ISOs :)
