October 23, 201510 yr Hi, I am looking to build a new Unraid box and am looking for a motherboard thats a good price and performance. So this server will just be a Sickbed, Sicksab unit that stores all the families Photo's, videos, TV & Movies and Music. I want to set in around 22 hot swap bays for drives and 1 x SSD for cache. Apart from running Docker apps, I am not planning on doing any other virtual machines at this time. I will also need to be able to stream 3 x 1080p videos at the same time from PLEX. So want Motherboard with inbuilt video and the capability to have as many SATA 3 ports with the addition of PCIE cards to run the rest of the drives. Any comments & suggestions welcome whilst I am mulling over the kit list. cheers
October 23, 201510 yr I use the asrock c226 ws (not the ws+) it has 10 SATA ports and on-board video as long as you have a CPU with built in graphics. I am using a xeon 1245v3, but a consumer CPU will work just fine I upgraded from a $35 pentium 32xx (don't remember the exact model)
