Stupid Question - USB Hard Drives

Featured Replies

This question almost seems too stupid to ask:  Does unRAID support USB hard drives?

I only ask because the compatibility wiki makes no mention of them, and a quick look around the forum doesn't turn up any mention either.  I can't think of any reason they wouldn't work, but I figured I'd check just in case.

You can connect and mount a usb drive for copying to/from unraid.

USB drives are not supported as part of the Protected unRAID array. (at least right now).

I think with some tweaking with links you can make them work, but it has to occur for every boot.

Ah crap.  Good thing I checked first.  I have 5.5TB worth of external USB hard drives.  Would have been a shame to have tried to install unRAID and found out I couldn't use them.

Thanks for the quick reply.

At first I had several 500gig WD mybook external drives. I decided I didn't want to use them as external so I cracked the cases open & took the drives out. They were sata drives & worked great in my unRAID box. Heck one even died & WD replaced it under warranty.

Just a idea..  ::)
