Huge performance drop during file transfers to cache pool

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got a question and I hope that somebody can help me.

If I copy a couple of movies over to my UnRaid server, the first few Gb go very fast 100-125mb/s. (I have gb network in place).

Then after about 15 Gb the speeds drops to 25 mb/s and doesn't pick up speed again.

Setup

My UnRaid 6.1.3 server has 16Gb of internal memory and a cache pool of 2 SSD drives.

Processor doesn't peak or stress out, but stays at about 10%-20%.

Internal memory is almost 100% used by cache, and about 1Gb is used by system.

I'm copying files from a Mac mini with SSD drive and 16Gb of internal memory also.

Any ideas how I can solve this?

Are you sure you are writing to cache pool and not to parity array?

I'm very sure that I'm not writing to the array, the files exist on the cache drive.

I've included a screenshot from a current copy

I remember seeing somewhere that there is a known issue with cache pool speed, and the solution should be in an upcoming release. Hopefully there will be a 6.1.4 out soon with several of the little tweaks and fixes, but I suspect Tom is rather busy with 6.2 at the moment.

Fingers crossed...  :)
