November 3, 201510 yr Hi guys, I just wondered if anyone knew of any tools or methods to automatically compare unRaid folder structures between locations. My friend and I now both have unraid servers and we like to keep a copy of our files on each others server as a form of backup. We manually copy files onto external 4tb drives and swap them back and forth every week or so. Sometimes though we forget to copy the folder onto the drive for new stuff - which if something happened wouldnt be good - they are usually larger media folder, home movies etc. for smaller files we use crashplan so thats covered. So the question - anyone got any idea for tools that can automatically compare the folder structures and then generate a report (either manually or what would be cool would be an email!) for the 2 servers which are in completely different physical locations? I know I could frig something with VPN and a local app and a manual process, but I wondered if there were any services running or if anyone had any better ideas. Thanks in advance :-) Stuart
November 3, 201510 yr I like Total Commander (on a Windows station), but any commander-like tool with a full tree synchronization feature would work. There's a Krusader Docker that probably can (I haven't verified that). They don't provide a report (although perhaps another similar tool does), but this lets us make the changes immediately, instead of manually from a report. It quickly compares complete trees against each other, isolates the differences, allows immediate compares of text files, lets you customize the results, then quickly lets you synchronize the trees. Total Commander and others even have built-in FTP support, if that's needed.
