Problem Installing "Screen"

Featured Replies

Got my hardware installed and "running". Going thru the setup and I am stuck trying to get "screen-4.03-i486-1.tgz".

When I go to //tower:8080 I can access my UnRAID box, when I go to the pkg manager, scroll down to the "screen....." file and click to download, nothing happens. I tried to manually download thru the slackware website, but when I try to download file I get a page of gibberish. I am stuck, need help. I have (8)eight  4TB HDDs to PreClear, gotta get rolling on the project.

Just install the Nerd Tools plugin, which includes screen. It will be useful to you in other ways even if you decide to use the preclear plugin.

You're doing it wrong. You're trying to install 32bit software on 64bit only OS.

Install the NerdPack and/or PreClear Plugin instead.

I'm a Windows hardware guy, so this is new ground for me. I did find and download the Nerdpack. I copied zip to my PC, c:\nerdpack    unzipped there. I have 2 files  .gitignore  NerdPack.plg    and a folder  packages. Inside the folder are 22 files ending with  .txz    I do see the "screen...." and "utempter....." files.  Do I copy these 2 files to my flash drive    /root        or to /root/extra  ?

You're overcomplicating this by trying to think too much...  ;D

Thanks,  took a little tweaking to get the copy to paste in, but I got it installed. Got preclear to start on 1 of the 8 disks. Going to do 1 at a time. I tried to preclear my "parity" disk, but it keeps giving me an error, I'll work on it last. Going to be a few days to preclear my disks.

Do you mean the disk you intend to use as parity or the disk that is currently assigned in the parity slot? You can't (or shouldn't be able to) preclear a disk that is already assigned to a slot in the webgui, only unassigned disks should be available for preclearing.

For preclearing disks I always used to use screen myself, but have now started using gfjardim's plugin, much easier and provides a gui update of progress.
