November 11, 201510 yr I am having temperature problems with Samsung 840 EVO but only when writing vast amount of data. I have seen temperatures up to 60 C but after that the disk starts throttling. What temperature threshold you have set in Display Settings and do you get these warnings when the drive is idle? BTW, this is not likely to be a unRAID defect....
November 27, 201510 yr Same thing is happening on my end and as far as I can tell, no major tasks are writing to the cache disk(s) at the moment, just two media files open according to lsof Temps have increased from 45 to 51 and 50 to 56 now. I have two Sandisk SSD Plus 120GB in the cache pool. The weather is a bit warm but the other data drives are sitting at a comfortable low 30s
November 27, 201510 yr Samsung's recent drives do tend to overheat. The triple/quad core controller is running very hot. My SM951 freaks out after about 20 seconds of heavy use. Well, it did until I stuck on a small heat sink on to the controller chip. Now it's fine. I don't see why the 2.5" format drives wouldn't have the same issue.
