SM951 Not Detected

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

So after buying my new unraid system i decided to buy a SM951 PCI-e SSD to use as my cache drive as i had read this should work.

After booting into unraid it is unable to see this device at all. Booting into windows i am able to see the device however.

Is there anything specific i need to do in order to get this to show? I believe the issue may be with the need to run unraid as UEFI however when trying to do so my system is unable to run it as the unraid usb is not UEFI?

My system is:

Intel 5960x

32GB DDR4

Asrock X99 ws-e

Regards,

Jamie

Did you get this to work?  I'm considering the same drive

Only v6.2, now in rc, supports NVMe devices.

Johnnie is correct. In the new version it is supported and works well as a cache drive. I've had 3 vms running off it for months now

Supposedly the unassigned devices plugin works with nvme drives as well if you want to try it on your current version - I have yet to try this method so if you want to try it let me know how it goes please

Jamie

Thanks all

Just so you know there is both an AHCI and NVMe version of this drive.  I had the AHCI version and it worked just fine with version 6.0 and 6.1.  Have you confirmed that your motherboard is in fact detecting the drive first off?
