November 14, 201510 yr I ran a parity check last night after realizing it didnt appear the regular check ran earlier this month. I'm on version 6.1.2 (my configuration below is current. For seamingly no reason, the check is running 10-20 MB/ sec faster than any recent check I ran (it actually run close to 90 from early on an in the 120s at the end). I did change out a 500 GB mechanical for a 500 GB SSD, but I had run partial checks and never saw the speeds I'm getting now. The odd part is most of the drives were not returning a temp status right at the start of the parity check. I watched the first 2% tick by and while refreshing, nothing showed up. This morning I got up, of course I'm ast the 2 TB threshold so only 3TB drives are spinning now. All of the 3TB drives are showing temps, some that didn't last night. (see screen shots) Any thoughts?
November 14, 201510 yr Community Expert For the disks temps go to: settings > disk settings Check you poll_attributes setting, this is the time in seconds unraid polls the drives temperature, default value is 1800, which IMO is very high, set it to a lower value like 300, don’t set it to low or it will slow down parity checks.

November 14, 201510 yr I'm not at all surprised at the speed gains you noted with a 500GB SSD replacing a spinner => a 500GB drive likely had 250GB platters, and would also cause significant slowdowns fairly early in the check as it approached the much slower inner cylinders at around the 400GB point. Your limiting drive now is #10 ... which is a 400GB/platter unit. I didn't check all of them, but I believe the Samsung's would be the limiting factor if you replaced the Hitachi, as they have 667GB platters. r.e. the temps => as already noted, v6 only polls the temps once every "poll_attributes" seconds. Not sure why the default is so long ... I changed mine to 90 seconds.
