Read only share for kids

Featured Replies

I have my unraid server setup mostly for movies and have a movies share that is read/write. I want my daughter to be able to browse the movies and play them but unable to delete them, by accident of course  ;D. Now I know I could just export the Movies share read only but I don't want it read only for me as well. Can't you somehow setup another share, say called Kids, export it as read only and have pointers to all of the movies and then just give her an account that can only access that share??

Or is there a better way?

Thanks,

Scott

Either make the "Movies" share read-only, and put your ID as the exception, or make them read-write and put the kid's id as the "exception"

Either will work.

Or... Make the disk-shares read/write, but hidden, and you use them to store your files... and leave the user-shares as as read-only for everybody.

Thanks.....honestly I did not even see the "exceptions" field and if I had I would not have known what it was. I just read about it and it is exactly what I need.

Thanks,

Scott
