November 24, 201510 yr Community Expert So I always had this problem, but I never looked into it. When I first setup my unRAID box I mapped the user share on my win 7 machine but it showed incorrect total size. I first had 12x4 TB disks, 1 parity and 11 data disks which gives me total size of 44TB but windows only showed 40TB. I recently removed 1 disk to shrink my array to 10 data disks, and now windows shows 36,3 TB total. Is this a windows/SMB problem? I've searched high and low but can't seem to find what's causing this or what the solution is. I'm guessing this will be a problem when my share gets near the total size and I try to write to it, which will likely fail due to low space. Is it to much to ask to have all my 40TB..? Anyone have a clue?
November 24, 201510 yr Simple... Windows sees a kilobyte as 1024bytes Linux sees a kilobyte as 1000bytes So a gigabyte for each system looks a bit different: 1000*1000*1000=1,000,000,000bytes 1024*1024*1024=1,073,741,824bytes So... 44,000,000,000/1,000,000,000=44 gigabytes 44,000,000,000,1,073,741,824=40.978 gigabytes. Tada
