November 26, 201510 yr Hi all- I have built a test Unraid running 6.1.4. For right now, just an old box i had laying around. I currently do not have a cache drive. I have a parity drive and 2 small data drives. I built a Mac VM on one of the data disks and it seems to run fairly well for what i would need it to do. Now, the question... Will that disk ever spin down? Or because there is a VM running on it, will it always spin? Second question... Is it possible to move a VM to a different disk easily, or am i looking at just reinstalling it if and when i add an SSD? Thanks! al
November 26, 201510 yr It will not likely spin down, but it ultimately depends on the OS. Virtual disks for VMs are just files. You can move them just like any other file on the system, but given there size, such moves can take some time to complete.
