November 30, 201510 yr i got a question about using unRAID as a VM with a SSD and a few HDD's how do you use a SSD in unRAID as VM guest (something like Linus from LinusTechTips used with his 2 Gaming Rigs, 1 Tower video) do i need to add the SSD as a Cache Device or as a Array Device? (i want to have 2 VM's using 1 SSD and the HDD's for monthly backup)

November 30, 201510 yr Right now I have 2 vms similar to linus hosted on a hdd pool. You want to add atleast a 240gb ssd to the cache pool, then set up the vdisk share to use cache pool only. Set up your 2 vms to install to the vdisk share, and allocated around 100gb to each on a 240gb drive. Set up your hdd pool and arrayvdisk share and either back up to it via the network or if you need the vms to access to backups directly then set up the hdd pool in the vm editing, add a second hdd image to the vms on the hdd pool I recommend you start small, around 50gb per vm and expand as needed If you need more help let me know. Regards Jamie
