December 1, 201510 yr Hello guys, I just bought the Asrock E3C224D4I-14S motherboard. The board come included two mini-SAS to SATA cables, and I want to buy the third SAS cable to connect future drives. Here is the spec from Asrock website: SATA controller: - Intel® C224 : 4 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s (from mini SAS connector), 2 x SATA2 3.0 Gb/s, Support RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and Intel® Rapid Storage SAS controller: - LSI 2308: 8 x SAS2 6Gbps ( from 2x mini SAS 8087 connector) 1) The two included cables are mini SAS 8087. If I buy a third cable, is it the same 8087 or something different? Can someone with this motherboard please help me on this? 2) I only have 4 HDD to play with. Is it better to use the Intel controller first or the LSI for Parity + 3 drives? Thank you
