December 4, 201510 yr Frys has a good deal on these right now, I know that removing the drive voids warranty, is anyone using these drives in their unraid system? Also pretty easy to get the case open? Here is a link to the drive I'm talking about http://www.frys.com/product/8544619?site=72premail120415 Thanks in advance Aj
December 5, 201510 yr They are very easy to open, there are two notches at the bottom of the 'spine', below where the USB and power cables go. If you carefully use a screw driver you can pop the case open.
December 5, 201510 yr They would most likely be green's since they don't make Blues in that capacity and I don't believe they make reds or blacks in externals but I could be wrong.
December 6, 201510 yr Wouldn't bother with those but rather get some of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822149628&cm_re=toshiba_5_tb-_-22-149-628-_-Product

April 20, 201610 yr Could resist at frys they had them at $89 each, bought 4vif them... So, how have these been working for you so far?
April 20, 201610 yr I bought a couple of these about a year ago and found they had WD reds in them. They have been working fine. Earlier this year I bought two more and there were greens in them. The greens are working fine after using wdidle to change one setting. The newer green drives are also about 32MB smaller than the older drives. This makes no difference as a data drive, but I cannot use it as a parity drive because it is slightly smaller than some of the other 5TB drives.
