S3 Sleep Workaround. Stop Array - Shutdown - Restart via WOL - Start Array

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have been combing the forums for a solution to my S3 sleep problems (no video or network access on wakeup) and it seems many other users have the same issue. I have tried everything from getting a new Intel NIC to updating the MB BIOS and SAS controller firmware/bios to wishing on a shooting star.

Is there an easier or more robust way to start the server remotely, even if it requires a full reboot? I really don't have any need to suspend the server for any reason, I just need to be able to start it remotely. As the subject suggests, is there anyway to powerup the server via WOL? I am assuming this has something to do with the run state? Would I be modifying the power down script?

Many thanks

EDIT 1:

Is there any way to set it to an S5 sleep state so that it can be powered on by WOL? http://acpi.sourceforge.net/documentation/sleep.html

So for example, would I need to use the power down script and instead of setting the run state to 0, set it to a sleep state of 5?
