Parity Check Performance

Featured Replies

Not seeing any updates to the User Benchmarks regarding Parity Performance here

I'm curious what people are seeing for Parity Check Performance.  I have 10 drives of varying speeds (thank you unRaid for a cost-effective, flexible system!) and sizes (see below), plus parity.

I'm running a parity now and seeing 114.7 MB/sec sustained.  Which seems pretty good.  I'm running 6.1.4 and using AOC-SAS2L-MV8.  I've heard complaints about performance on these boards but not seeing a problem.

Since 6.1.4 includes a fix for the parity check problem affecting many with that card, it is not surprising that you are not seeing a problem :)

While looking at "Estimated speed" during a parity check can be relevant early on in the process just to confirm that there are no strange bottlenecks, the interesting measurement in my opinion is the duration for a complete parity check (or the average speed for a complete check). The current speed will vary a lot during the check, especially in your case with a mix of 2TB, 3TB, 4TB and 5TB drives.
