OVMF - What am I missing?

Featured Replies

I have 4 VMs (3 OE and 1 WIN10) with GPUs passed through (3x HD650 and 1x HD7750).  All 4 are booting using SeaBIOS and work fine.  I decided to start to play with OVMF just to see what it is all about and I cannot get any video.  The VM starts but nothing on the monitor.  I even tried specifying the ROM file for the card and still no good.

Am I doing something wrong?  Do some systems (or GPUs) not support OVMF?

Well, it looks like the 7750 and the 6450s may not support UEFI booting.

Nothing wrong, no..  Some GPU's don't support it.

You can normally check by researching the specific card. I see no reason to switch unless you're having issues.

Thats right. UEFI is nice because it should mean more native support for pass through. There's actually a good chance OVMF would work with your GPUs but more on that later...

6.2 will give OVMF support finally what it needs, and we are even switching to it as the default.

Are we there yet? ::)
